With the 30 cm of snow on the ground
my furniture painting
has come to an end for the year.
But, before we got hammered with bad weather
I did find this beauty for $40.00 on Kijiji.
After
two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
and some light distressing
I think it's quite
the beauty.
The feet are my favorite part as the distressing let the
wood shine through and bring out all that detail.
The top drawer had broken hardware and no way to fix it.
So, I fill the holes with wood filler
(before I painted)
and drilled new holes for these knobs that I had kicking around.
All the hardware was sprayed with
Oil Rubbed Bronze by Rustoleum
OK, just one more shot of the lovely detail.
(loving the reflection,
wishing all the dust was off the floor...oops!)
I distressed the edges slightly and finished with just the clear wax.
It looked so sweet and the girl who bought it could not get here quick enough.
(She was so worried I'd sell it to someone else.)

Good Evening Karyn, What a difference! Without the Annie Sloan paint the chest of drawers looks old and tired, but you have managed to update this chest with a coat of paint....marvellous. Best Wishes Daphne
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so pretty! Love the colour! We don't have snow here yet, but I know it's coming.
ReplyDeleteTuula :)
You're right! She IS a beauty!
ReplyDeleteBut she went through quite a transformation to get there. You've worked very hard...!!

La la love this color! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou've also been nominated for the Liebster Award. You can check out the details here: http://createinspireme.blogspot.com/2012/11/liebster-award.html
Lucky for the buyer, you probably follow good kijiji etiquette - as in, if you say you are holding it for someone, you hold it! Pet peeve of mine is people who don't understand that.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, it is beautiful. If I were you, I'd have a hard time saying goodbye to my projects. But one house can only hold so many dressers I guess.
gorgeous. I love the distressing on the feet....well, the bottom....bottom feet area! It looks stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe natural wood colour showing through that mint is awesome! I love all the detail at the bottom. Really cute.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job - the distressing is just perfect - and that color is soooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Suzan
It really is lovely--
ReplyDeleteThat turned out just lovely! At first, I thought you had replaced the hardware, because it looked so nice!
ReplyDeleteGood job! It looks great!
ReplyDeleteAmazing transformation! I would love to have you come share this or any of your great ideas at the link party on ‘Or so she says…' There’s one going on right now (and every Saturday – Tuesday). Hope to see you there! www.oneshetwoshe.com
ReplyDeleteoh i love it! the color and distressing are so fabulous and soft and pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteWoW, that cleaned up so well. Love the color choice, and I slow down too when the weather gets cold. Not too many people hunting for furniture around Christmas time.
ReplyDeleteKaryn - I have that identical dresser (and a matching desk) in my upper garage. Love the color choice! I wanted to let you know that that you've been nominated for the Liebster Award (again)! I didn't see the previous award button until I finished my post. You do great work and I'm become your newest follower.
