Wow, it's been a while since I've posted on my blog.
I'm blaming it on vacations and trying to squeeze in as much summer fun before school starts.
It's not like I haven't done anything,
I've been VERY busy.
(a new bookshelf, an ombre dresser and a Union Jack dresser)
Just finished this this morning and I couldn't wait to show.
Found this very plain and boring dresser at a garage sale and knew with it's flat drawer fronts that I could easily put a pattern or stencil on them.
So I brought it home and primed it up.
Painted the top and sides Krylon Smoke Grey.
(almost forgot the before shot, too lazy to put back 3 of the drawers,
again blaming it on summer)
Taped off the "Jack"
(starting to be a pro at this)
Used tester pots from Behr and coloured them "Cranberry Whip" for the red and "Windsor Haze" for the blue. I also went with "Hi-Ho Silver" from Cloverdale for the white.
I was better prepared for the bleeding under the tape this time and knew just what to do.
If you have bleeding you let the whole thing dry and paint then with a poly acrylic.
Once dried you tape off for the white lines. The tape sticks cleanly to the painted and sealed poly parts and then you have perfect lines.
See....
The bottom white line is crisp and perfect.
I wasn't sure I was going to use the old wooden handles,
but once I painted them with Rustoleum Aged Bronze,
I loved them.
Here it is.
I think it's beautiful.
I love the clean lines and how those ugly wooden handles now look like metal.
Just one more look.
Perfect.

The planning for this Union Jack paint job was impressive ... guess that's why you have such a beautiful piece! Somehow it always to the smallest detail that really makes something pop, and those Aged Bronze handles really put the focus on the Union Jack pattern for me. And especially with those perfectly crisp lines that's where the focus should be. Great job!

ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! It is seriously amazing. If that dresser were in my house I wouldn't be able to stop staring at it!
ReplyDeleteI love how sleek this looks. I did a union flag bureau for my 6 year old's room - my hubby is English - and my son loves it. Now working on union flag coffee table, but in neutrals. x
